The 17th annual Back to School Community Health & Resource Fair hosted by Areva’s non-profit, the Special Needs Network, was a huge success for the L.A.’s special needs community. Attendees got free back to school supplies, dental screenings, wellness checkups and more.
The Special Needs Network Helps Students Get Excited About Going Back to School
After dealing with the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 over the past two years, it was a priority for Areva to make this back-to-school event unforgettable. Held at California State University Dominguez Hills, volunteers passed out groceries, provided professional haircuts and gave families an opportunity to receive a free phone or tablet. New sponsor, McDonalds, was onsite providing free food and beverages and they even brought a petting zoo to help kids get excited about starting a new school year.
The event drew the attention of Assembly member, Mike A. Gipson, who honored Areva’s Special Needs Network with a certificate of recognition from the California State Legislature for providing meaningful community resources to students.
